Notes

NMRS describes it as as 'a small, natural spring, close to the River Spey, ... It has since silted up, and appears as a damp patch of sand, through which a small trickle of water seeps' (OS 1996). Visited by OS (R B) 8 September 1966. It stands on the west bank of River Spey, facing Cromdale parish kirk on the east bank, immediately opposite (built 1809 on the site of an earlier kirk), the two sides connected at this point by a bridge. Nearby Auchroisk may indicate that there was a 'crossing' here before the construction of the modern bridge. The bridge is not shown on OS 6 inch 1st edn, but a ferry is shown near the place where the bridge was later built.
