Notes

OS Name Book recorded this as 'St Mary's Chapel (site of)...No remains of this chapel at present exist, but its site is carefully preserved from the plough.' A quantity of human bones had been turned up at the site. No traces existed by 1962, and the site was under the plough (NMRS). Note that St Mary's Well in this part of the same parish is said to be 'called after a chapel in the neighbourhood dedicated to St Mary' (OS Name Book) and this may well have been the chapel in question.
