Notes
Sixteenth-century remains on the site of a much earlier church. It was closed in 1818 when a new church came into use. The Aberdeen Breviary (1510) states that Drostan was buried in a stone tomb at Aberdour (Aberdowyr) 'where many people oppressed by various sicknesses of diseases are restored to health by his merits' (Ab. Brev. (Macquarrie) 6). Aberdeen Calendar, 271: 'In Scocia apud Abirdour ... Sancti Drostani abbatis. Reliquie gloriose cuius virtutum signa laudibus merito sunt extollenda'.
