Notes
There is some confusion about the precise location of this lost medieval kirk. The Old Statistical Account in the 1790s stated that it had disappeared, 'apparently through the erosive action of the Conieglen Water' (iii, 367). It is not clear, however, on which side of the burn it stood. See NMRS for further discussion. A later parish kirk was built (NR698094) in the eighteenth century, but not on the same site.
