Object Classification

Parish (extant in 1975)

NGR for nineteenth-century parish church, built on site of (and incorporating fragments of) a Romanesque predecessor. The dedication of this church is attested by Mackinlay 1914, 393, who says, citing Jervise's 'Epitaphs' (but with ref. incorrect, should be vol. II, p.62), that Lundie bore St Lawrence's name and had a Lawrence Fair at the kirkton. Jervise in fact only notes the Fair, from which he tacitly infers the dedication.

Parish notes

On the erection of the collegiate church of Fowlis, reputedly attributed to Patrick Lord Gray (1522 x 38), the teinds of this parish, both parsonage and vicarage, were divided between the prebendaries, who continued to hold them at he Reformation. See Cowan 1967, 141 for full references. Fowlis Easter was annexed to Lundie in 1618, but the two parishes subsequently separated again.
