Linen on paper; folded once; good condition; minimal colour (From plan itself: ‘The intended road is tinged with a gravel colour [looks brown to me], March lines betwixt properties, houses etc. with red, and rives with blue’; also various grey shades; arable all clearly shown, with parallel lines to represent rigs or furrows.) In lower left hand corner of plan a table showing ‘Length of Road’ (24 miles 880 yards) from Wester Knockfin to ‘Barn yards east of Beauly where this road ends’. Some names given, but nothing not clearly on plan itself. At bottom of plan is a sworn deposition by Wm Cumming made before a justice of the peace Donald McPherson at Inverness in 1808 that this is a true plan etc.., signed W.C. and D.McP. Starts at top with ‘Moray Firth’; ‘Proposed Road from Inverness to Dingwall’ shown crossing over ‘Intended Bridge’ DOWNSTREAM from ‘Beauly’ and ‘Lovat’; the existing ferry is shown w. of Beauly, upstream from intended bridge.
