The name means 'shieling of Uachdar Mhaluidh', the existing name being a farm on the hill-slopes above Dalmally (which probably contains the same specific element). Interestingly, from Dalmally, if you climb east past Uachdar Mhaluidh, following Allt Mhaluidh, you cross over the watershed and start descending the eastern side of the hill before you reach Airigh Uachdar Mhaluidh.
